Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Kataneo OOO (“Kataneo”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you visit our website or contact us.

2. What personal data we collect and why we collect it

2.1 Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site (if comments are enabled), we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

2.2 Contact forms

When you send us a message via the Contact Us form, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Company name (if provided)
  • Your message and any other information you include

We use this data only to:

  • Reply to your enquiry
  • Provide quotations, samples, availability and technical information on our products
  • Maintain a history of communications with you

2.3 Media

If you upload images to the website (for example via a form), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Website visitors can download and extract location data from images on the website.

3. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit our website. We use cookies for basic site functionality and, where applicable, for anonymous analytics.

3.1 Comment cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.

3.2 Login cookies

If you visit the login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will set several cookies to store your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

3.3 Analytics cookies

We may use Google Analytics or a similar service to collect aggregated, anonymous statistics about visits to our website (for example, pages visited, time spent on pages, browser type). This helps us understand how the site is used and improve it over time.

Analytics cookies do not allow us to identify you directly. For more information about how Google processes data, you can consult Google’s privacy resources provided by Google.

You can disable cookies through your browser settings. Please note that some website features may not function properly if you disable cookies.

4. Embedded content from other websites

Articles or pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, maps, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We recommend that you read the privacy policies of those third-party sites.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your data only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the website, provide hosting, analytics, security, email delivery and spam detection (for example, spam-detection services and analytics tools). These providers process data on our behalf and according to our instructions.
  • Authorities or legal entities when required to comply with legal obligations, enforce our rights or respond to lawful requests.

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.

6. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and automatically approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Data sent through contact forms may be kept for as long as necessary to:

  • Respond to your request
  • Maintain a record of our communications
  • Fulfil legal or contractual obligations

When data is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it.

7. What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, or have contacted us via forms or email, you can request:

  • To receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
  • That we erase any personal data we hold about you.

This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

To exercise your rights, please contact us at info@kataneo.org and clearly state your request. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you may also have additional rights under applicable data-protection laws (such as the right to object to certain processing or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority).

8. Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Because we are based in Russia, your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of your country of residence. Where required by law, we take appropriate measures to protect such transfers in accordance with applicable data-protection rules.

9. How we protect your data

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access. These measures include, for example:

  • Use of secure hosting providers
  • Restricted access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
  • Regular software updates and security monitoring

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
